For 141 years, the Stamford Family YMCA has embraced the mission to build strong kids, strong families, and strong community. We have stood for caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Our YMCA is a place that welcomes everyone; a place that promotes togetherness; a place that builds health – of individuals and the entire community. It gives kids a safe, nurturing environment to spend their time through after-school and summer camp programs, and adults an enriching atmosphere in which to strengthen their minds, bodies and souls. As construction continues at the Stamford Family YMCA, the first phase of the Renewed Promise Campaign is nearing completion. Gesualdi Construction Co. is building the new lobby that will open its doors to Bell Street. The Stamford Family YMCA is excited to re-open to membership and continue building a stronger community in Stamford. The first phase of the campaign includes the construction of the new lobby and a new cardio center with a new sound system and televisions. The first phase also highlights upgraded men’s and women’s locker rooms with new carpeting and showers, a new roof, and refinished gymnasium floor. The second phase of the Renewed Promise Campaign includes building brand new men’s and women’s locker rooms and a new youth program center. The youth program center will highlight classrooms, meeting rooms, private office, space, bathrooms, and a computer lab. This phase is going to reconfigure the layout of the first floor and create a new glass hallway that overlooks the pool with a lounge and vending area. In the pool area, a floor to ceiling glass wall will be installed that will let sunlight into the pool area and create a vibrant atmosphere. Finally, the third phase will create new boys and girls locker rooms, youth fitness area, and new administration and office space. The Stamford Family YMCA was founded in 1868 and has a rich heritage of offering everyone in the community a place to grow together in spirit, mind, and body.
