Stingray Swimming Academy
This is a YMCA Inspired swim lessons program designed for children 6 months old through 18 years old. Classes range from Parent and Child swimming lessons through Pre-Swim Team lessons. The Academy is broken into four schools of swimming. One, Parent and Child Lessons; Two, Pre School Swim Lessons; Three, Youth Swimming Lessons; and Four, we have Adult classes for Adults who would like to learn how to swim or become better swimmers. Instructors are trained to teach how to be comfortable in water and also to learn the strokes and become strong swimmers. Our swimming academy is inspired by the YMCA Swimming Lessons Curriculum and is specifically designed to inspire children to join our swim team and graduate into the sport of swimming.
Stamford YMCA Stingrays Swim Team
This is a YMCA Competitive Swimming program. We have two coaches working to improve the ability of swimmers who are looking to compete in the area in YMCA swim meets. The swimming season will begin in September, but we offer spring and summer swim camps and stroke clinics until we begin the season. Both coaches are experienced swimmers with USA and ASCA coaching certification.
Lifeguard Courses
We offer American Red Cross Lifeguarding/CPR & AED/First Aid certification. Classes are taught by the aquatics director and begin this April. Classes run for about 9 hours per week during the evenings and take about one month to complete. Upon completion of the course, participants who pass will be Red Cross Certified Lifeguards and have CPR/AED/First Aid Certification.
