REGISTRATION OPEN FOR SUMMER 2012
From June 25th to August 17th the Stamford Family YMCA will be the place to be while school is out! Our teen adventure summer camp is open to middle school students only (click here for Summer Camp Wow). Our adventure program is designed for teens to experience a strong sense of teamwork. Teens are allowed to assume responsibility in many activities where they will learn to develop life skills such as peer leadership, decision-making, problem solving and goal setting. It is our hope that teens will be inspired at the end of the summer to be leaders and continue a life of learning and exploration in and outside of school.
Campers will participate in a wide range of outdoor activities such as; canoeing, rock climbing, fishing, nature adventures, as well as instructional swimming, athletics, dance, karate, environment science, field trips and so much more. Towards the end of the program, the teens will go on a one-week overnight trip with their group and counselors.
Click here for the calendar of events.
Hours are from 9am-4pm, with extended hours available from 7:30am until 6pm. Pre-registration is required. Click here for the registration packet.
WHAT DOES CAMP WOW LOOK LIKE?
Teen Adventure Camp consists of a full day of fun indoor and outdoor activities. During the morning, the teens leave the YMCA to do outdoor teambuilding activities. At lunch the teens return to the YMCA to continue a normal camp day where they will take instructional swimming, karate, dance and athletic lessons. Every activity is planned and instructed by specialists.
Teen Adventure Camp is a great experience that helps middle school student’s transition into a new developmental stage. Teen campers will develop independence and proper decision making skills, intrinsic motivation, self-confidence. Teen Adventure Camp gives teens the opportunity to learn about themselves while engaging in activities not found in their typical school day. Every camper is encouraged to develop new skills, grow mentally, emotionally, socially and physically.
Teen Adventure Camp has a Zero Tolerance Policy on Bullying.
