Statement of the Stamford Family YMCA
Attributable to: Aquatic Incident
At approximately 4pm on Friday, October 13, 2017, a lifeguard at the Stamford Family YMCA identified a gentleman in distress in the pool. Staff immediately jumped into the pool, removed the man from the water and began performing CPR. Other staff immediately called 911.
Paramedics arrived approximately four minutes later and transported the man to Stamford Hospital. We have reached out to the man’s family and he is listed in stable but critical condition.
